Quick post

09 27 09

Hello everyone:
I am back to blogging after a hiatus for emotional reasons. This is quick but if you all have ever wondered why the flu runs rampant in the wintertime and is rarely visible in the summer, the answer is Vitamin D. This story broke a few years ago, and for many people getting sunlight is common sense because you get 'seasoned' to the elements. Anyway, for now all of us ought to get some sunlight and in wintertime, either use a sunlamp or take Vitamin D supplements. Vitamin D deficiency is the cause of many, many illnesses and the flu is certainly a wretched consequence of a lack of this important vitamin. See this article.

Given this wonderful information, how come everyone is going so crazy over the swine flu and wanting to take untested vaccines? How come the advice hasn't been to take Vitamin D to avoid flu strains? I will happily pop Vitamin D supplements all day before I allow any untested substance to be placed into my veins, thank you.

;)

Since I live up in the cloudy northern region of Seattle, I am all over my friends about this, especially the ones with really dark skins. It's not just the flu, it's about how good you feel in many ways. The thing is that the amount needed to keep you alive is only a small fraction of the amount of D you need to thrive.

I'm almost lily white and so can get a 10x full dose of D from 10 minutes without a shirt. But the thing is that I don't do that. So when I'm not working outside, I take D supplements.

I have never taken a flu shot and do take vitamin D. My doctor always asks me if I want one and I always ask if he can guarantee that I won't get the flu if I get the shot. His answer is always no and so is mine.

Welcome back! I too am an avid "D" pusher. D3 to be exact. It is a good immune booster.

Hey Carl, Sandy and Lisa. Thanks for your comments and advice. Yes I recall you've mentioned VitD a few times over the years Carl and as fair as you are, I bet you can get your daily dose in two minutes! lol!

Sandy you are too much with your one liners:) I hope you and your wife are having fun!

Lisa, thanks:) I still am not in full form because I have a little bug right now but will post opportunely:)

The press needs something to be in a panic about. Swine Flu, excuse me, the H1N1 virus, fits the bill. Even though it hasn't lived up to it's hype at all.
